The Low Barns Volunteer Task Force
Derwent Reservoir: Scrub Management (Sat 7 Mar 09)
7th March 2009

The Sat team spend the day cutting and burning gorse up at the Derwent. The area of work is a species rich acid grassland. 'Species rich' = lots of interesting plants and lots of different species! Without management important grassland habitats can be lost to scrub invasion. The plan is to introduce grazing animals to keep the scrub at bay.
